Pocket Watch
Gold, small size. The front and the rim have been broken off the watch, and the face is missing a hand. The front has an elaborate raised design of a woman with a 3 diamond necklace and a ruby for an earring. The face has all 12 numbers on it and each minute is distinguished by a gold dot and each fifth minute has a larger silver dot. The back has a small floral design with room for an engraving in the center. The inside front cover is stamped with the numbers 883. 3 O'Clock wind, cylinder movement. The hand style is #81 Louis XV (from Carle, Watch and Clock Encyclopedia). 999.78.12A = the actual watch 999.78.12B = the front cover 999.78.12C = the rim Serial # 149885 It appears that someone tried to remake it into a wrist watch. Repair marks etched inside - "408099" Probably Swiss made
