Medal Set
Five medals hand stitched onto a brooch-style pin; (1) Military Cross; white and purple coloured vertical striped ribbon with two horizontal silver bars (representing second and third awards of the Military Cross) each with a tiny crown in the centre, hanging from the bottom of the ribbon is a cast silver cross embossed with a small crown at each end and 'GRI' in the centre; engraved on the reverse, '130870 Capt. G.R.Paterson No. 11 S.A.S Bn. 1945'; (2) 1939-45 Star: dark blue, bright red and light blue coloured vertical striped ribbon, hanging from the ribbon is a casted, six-pointed star embossed with a circle with a crown at the top, 'GRL VI' in the centre, lettering around the circle, 'The 1939 - 1943 Star'; plain reverse. (3) Africa Star: tan background with a narrow dark blue, wide bright red and narrow light blue coloured, vertical striped ribbon, hanging from the ribbon is a casted, six-pointed star embossed with a circle with a crown at the top, 'GRL VI' in the centre, lettering around the circle, 'The Africa Star'; plain reverse. (4) Italy Star: bright red, white and green coloured, vertical striped ribbon, hanging from the ribbon is a casted, six-pointed star embossed with a circle with a crown at the top, 'GRL VI' in the centre, lettering around the circle, 'The Italy Star' ; plain reverse. (5) War Medal: dark blue, bright red and white coloured, vertical striped ribbon, hanging from the ribbon is a cast cupro-nickel medal embossed with the head of a man (King George VI) wearing a crown, lettering around the inside edge, 'GeorgIVS & VID: G: BR:OMN:REX ET INDIAE IMP:', on the reverse is a lion standing on a large sized phoenix, embossed in the top right corner, 1939-1945' and to the left, 'E.Cr. P.'.
