Description
Plate
Porcelain clay body with clear glaze applied. Decoration consists of a blue band on the upper surface of the plate near the rim. On either side of the blue band is a thin, gold lustre band. On the rim inside the banding are two crossed flags. This is a line transfer and appears to be overpainted by hand. The flags are nautical and are borne on gold flagstaffs. Below the flags are the words, "S.Y. Moonlight Maid". In the center of the plate well is the image of a ship at sea. The method of application appears to be that the image was first etched into the clay surface and then the glaze was applied overtop. The makers mark appears in green and orange on the bottom.
