Plate
White clay body with glossy glaze applied. Decoration consists of one wide and one narrow maroon color band on outer edge of rim. One thin maroon color band on the inner edge of the plate well. In the center of the plate well is a shield with the letters "JHS" in intertwining script within it. On the bottom is the maker's mark and impressed in the clay is the following. "Patent / 408 / W". There are large chips out of the underside of the rim.
