Lapel Pin
First pattern Word War Two discharge pin in silver and enamels. Background silver with red crown at top, red oak leaves in centre and "General Service" in blue band at bottom. The back is a post rather than a pin denoting the badge was issued to a man and fits through a lapel button hole. Presented to veterans who were honourably discharged and identified them as veterans when in civilian clothes. Impressed number on reverse "106098" and in print "....fine for misuse 500 dollars or .... months imprisonment". The second pattern of this insignia was in silver. Women were presented the badge with a pin fitting on the reverse. French versions of this pin also exist.
