Zucca Melon
Whole, dried and intact complete with stem; gold-like coloured shell with mottled brown bottom section Purchased seed from the Keremeos Grist Mill. Planted and harvested by the donor, a heritage seed activist. The seeds are bought for to the Mill's garden by their Curator, from Glen Swenson, in Sandwich, Illinois. See document file article. These melons were an important part of the early BC commercial agricultural food industry. The melons were used as faux strawberries in jam making and other food preparations. Prior to their reintroduction this once important crop was extinct in B.C.
