8mm Film
3" reel is part of a 12 minute silent film made with an 8 mm Kodak which documents a year at the orchards and packinghouse of R.H. [Robert Henry] Macdonald Packing House, where Buffalo Brand Apples were grown and packed. This appears to be the reel marked "Start" [pruning, pulling stumps with cat] for the longer film "Orchard". R.H. Macdonald appears listed simply as "farmer" in the 1837-38 directories for Vernon. The site of the orchard and packinghouse is now a subdivision. Digitized to VHS in 2004 and to DVD in 2006. VHS returned to donor, DVD in document file. LH Metal reel 1930 patent date, mailing box for development was return addressed to W.F. Macdonald Box 56 Vernon from toronto, postmark Dec 14, 1944.
