Part A, and self belt, part B. The fabric is polyester, with an overall abstract pattern of dark brown vertical lines between small 1 cm semi-circular forms in dark brown, orange and beige on a cream-coloured background. Shirt dress style with a pointed collar, long sleeves, and straight skirt. Kick pleat at centre back extends 32 cm up from bottom edge of hem. Centre front placket to hip level closes with five greenish-grey plastic buttons. Two patch pockets on front of dress at hip level. Self belt is 1.5 cm wide, 83.6 cm in length, and is lined with cream-coloured fabric and fastened with a self covered buckle. Label inside neck at centre back: "D'Allaird's". Dress was bought at a D'Allaird's store in Vancouver in the late 1970s and was worn as office day wear until the owner's retirement in 1981. The dress then became an outfit for going shopping, and finally was used as a housedress.
