Description
Dish
White clay body with clear glossy glaze applied. Decoration consists of a wider maroon color band between two thin green bands which run around the inside approximately 2 cm. from the top edge. A gap in the bands midway along one side contains a green transfer print image of a garter on which the words "Hotel Irving" appear. Inside the garter are the words "Vancouver/B.C." Atop the garter is a beaver facing left and flanked at both ends by maple leaves. The rim is asymmetrically fluted and as a result, the banding which runs across the flutes at right angles, is uneven in width and color. The maker's name appears in green on the bottom. Impressed into the clay bottom is a crown and below this "E VII/IX".
