Description
Cup
White clay body with clear glaze applied. Decoration, which is transfer printed in black, is the "White Fish" design first made in 1883. this is a wide border design which is placed under the rim of the cup on the outside. There is a narrower border design on the inside of the cup, just below the rim. Another decorative element on the side of the cup is a garter in black which bears the words "Canadian Pacific Railway". Within the garter are the intertwined letters "CPR". The makers mark is stamped in black on the bottom of the cup. This cup is in poor condition and appears to have been improperly fired at the time of manufacture. There is extensive cracking of both the clay body and glaze on the inside of the cup and over approximately half of the outside surface. There are some pieces missing from the rim. The cup has been poorly repaired in the past.
