Description
Television Cable Converter
(a) converter box. (b) is the remote This box converted early cablevision signals into channel information that could be understood by early televisions. Channels were changed mechanically by the convertor box which sent all the changing information into a television set top either channel 3 or channel four. This allowed early sets that were limited to channels 2-13 to receive a wide number of channels. Note, there is no Channel One as it was the channel reserved in the 1930s for experimental television broadcasts and was not licensed for use by commercial operators.
