Cigar Box
Donor's grandfather Paul Pitts knew Jimmy Martin the man in the picture and wrote on the box in pencil above the photo of the man in a fur parka. The cigar box is shaped like a volume of Shakespeare and has a 1908 date stamped on the cigar seal. In the 1905 Victoria Directory both George Stokes and the Princess of Wales Saloon (200 Government Street) are listed. Stokes is in the 1903 directory as running a different saloon. Neither he nor the Princess Saloon are listed in the 1910 directory. Among cigar box collectors book shaped boxes are a specific area.
