Description
Christmas Greeting Card
Handmade Christmas card of heavy brown paper containing a small watercolour painting on cream-coloured paper. The painting is glued onto the brown paper of the card. Painting depicts the two oldest parts of Helmcken House. The house is painted white and trimmed with green around the windows. There are three trees behind the house, and a green picket fence and gate in front of the house. A small greenhouse is attached to the front of the house, and a row of red flowers can be seen through the windows of the greenhouse. Dimensions of painting are 11.4 cm across and 7.9 cm top to bottom. Written in black ink above the painting are the words, "Happy greetings from the little old log house, built in 1852". Below the painting are the words, "Painted by Hilda Harris". "Christmas Greetings" is printed by hand on the front of the card in black ink, with a red and gold design decorating the first letter of each word. A narrow blue ribbon, .7 cm in width, is tied around the inside folded edge of the card.
