Woman's Dolman Mantle or Cape
Part A, Green silk plush lined with quilted grey silk. Neck ties and bow of grey silk grosgrain. Part B is a narrow grey silk satin belt which closes with a silver-coloured metal hook and eye. This was originally sewn inside the mantle to draw the garment in at the waist, but has now become unattached and separate. Part C is the bow of grey silk grosgrain which has also come off the mantle and is now separate. High standup collar. Two front panels end in long points that come to about the knees. Back ends in a point just below the waist, 66 cm down from the collar. Length measurement in dimensions field refers to the front of the mantle, from the top of the collar to the bottom of the long points. Appraiser noted that the bows from points were missing. Red label sewn inside back of neck reads: "Peter Robinson, Mantle Manufacturer, 216 to 226 Oxford Street". grey silk loop for hanging the mantle on a hook sewn underneath the label. Mantle closes with six silver-coloured metal hooks and eyes.
