CINE camera mounted on horizontal plate with silvery turn screw, corner knobs below. A rounded square except for where lens juts out in front. Body has flat sides and can be taken apart in half. Design on body a series of swirling lines, mimicing body shapes, in Art Deco style. Viewfinder flips up and out, held by latch (burnished, shiny metal). Lens below on screw in silvery mounting ring, with black enamel? painted inner ring, smaller silvery ring within marked with aperature stops. Black portion reads "ILEX UNIVAR F:5.6 - ILEX OPTICAL...N.Y. - PAT. APPL'D." in white. Exposure table rivetted to one side. "MODEL...LIGHT CONDITIONS...SUMMER...WINTER...FOR COMPLETE EXPOSURE TABLE USE...MADE IN...PAT. NO. DES...OTHER U.S. AND FOREIGN PATS. PEND." "OPEN - CLOSED" switch within circle in plate. Other side has silvery film rewind key which turns when release button at bottom pushed in. "UNEXPOSED FEET" indicator has button above orange, see through plastic covered number scale inside. 1 cm. wide outlined carry strap unfinished on back. Attached to both ends of plate with rivets. Decorated silvertone metal snaps close to bottom on strap attach on outside of cover (990.26.2B). Strap 158 cms. long, broken off on other side. Buckle halfway up. Ten perforation holes by buckle, one extra one put in much lower. Strap very worn, cracked in several places, ripped on end. Barely attached to plate. Paint coming off bottom. Strap needs stabilization. (B) Front and back flat pieces cut square on bottom corners, round on top. Form rectangular base. Thinner middle piece curves around. Pieces stitched together. Fits over movie camera (990.26.2A). Art Deco style influence seen in upside design of lines radiating out to top on both front and back. "Model A-8 - Univex - CINE CAMERA" in oval below design. "MADE... - PATENT PENDING" below. Both sides have a lower snap base for attachment. One upper side has horizontal guide through which the carry strap would be strung. Some worn, abraded areas. One side has white paint splatters. Thread loose at base. Leather protective hardener? worn away at base, revealing softer leather inner material. One guide missing. Dusty around stitching.
