Description
Bustle Hoop
Thirteen fabric-covered metal/brass hoops held in place at the waist with cotton tapes attached to a white cotton corset which laces up with thin white cotton cord. This corset is directly behind and fastens to 12 horizontal fabric-covered spring steel rods. Rods are shaped to fit from waist to hip, with the shorter ones at the top, and wider ones at the bottom. Horizontal rods are joined together with a 3.5 cm cotton tape down the centre, and fasten to the corset on either side with cotton tape and metal studs. Cotton tapes for the waistband, and tapes holding all the hoops together were probably white originally, but have now yellowed.
