Circular British Columbia Forest Service Constable badge; cast; brightly polished steel or nickel-plated; vertical steel pin soldered to the back; around the outside front, in black lettering reads: "BRITISH COLUMBIA / FOREST SERVICE / CONSTABLE/ DEPARTMENT OF LANDS AND FORESTS"; embossed crown at centre. Reverse stamped: "459".
Provenance
The donor worked as a BC Forest Ranger and these are his personal badges from his career that spanned the 1960s until reorganization in 1983. He has given us a two hour interview to go with the material.

Constable badges most were handed in and destroyed. It gave him unique power, the authority in an emergency to press gang people on the highway out of cars or in towns out of bars, and requires them to fight fires under rather unique emergency regulations or be imprisoned and fined immediately.
