Provenance
Founded in1902 as the National Trades and Labor Congress before the 1908 name change. This was a nationalist response by the Knights of Labor against the internationalist Trades and Labor Congress which was dominated by the US based American Federation of Labor. In 1911 this was a weak organization with representation primarily in eastern Canada.
