The Royal BC Museum’s Herpetology collection includes dried eggshells, eggs, embryos, tadpoles, and newly hatched animals and adults preserved as wet specimens in alcohol. A few turtles are prepared as skeletons. About 34 amphibian and 31 reptile taxa are represented in this collection.
The collections include materials which contain information, language, and images that may be outdated or harmful. We acknowledge that this is a result of the long collecting history of the Royal BC Museum. We are actively researching the collections alongside communities to improve the information in our records.
