Description
Teapot
Buff clay body with opaque brown glaze applied. Lid is not original and does not fit either in size or glaze. Original glaze on lid is a glossy oatmeal which contains oxide spotting. The glazed lid was subsequently painted an opaque brown to match the teapot body. In addition, the spout has been broken and repaired. The repairs to the spout include painting and grinding of the spout tip. On the side of the teapot is a raised medallion which bears a ring design containing the words "Qualicum Beach Inn" and a line representation of an inn. This design is in black on a clear glaze which covers the medallion. On the base are the words "Lovatt/Langley.../England", "Leadless Glaze". These have been impressed into the bottom.
