Floral subjects were most common pattern of Berlin work and early pattern often used glass beads. Round seed shaped beads known as pound beads as they were sold by the pound. Slippers, interior, lined in pink satin. Hard soles, would have been applied by shoemakers or cobbler. Green ground is stitched in a tent stitch, this being one of the two most common stitches used in Berlin work. Details of the flowers outlined in feather stitch. Floral decoration extends around the sides of each slipper, beginning at the top, reaching almost to the back or the heel.
