Description
Dinner Service
Six place Limoges dinner service purchased by John Oliver (BC Premier 1918-1927). He and his wife Elizabeth Oliver gave the dinner service to his daughter Sarah Ellen (see lexicon entry for Sarah Ellen Runnalls) as a wedding gift in 1923 when she married Rev. Frank Runnalls. Plain white porcelain with a glass-like overglaze. Rims of the individual pieces are decorated with a handpainted fine line in gold colour and a .3 cm handpainted gold-coloured band. Serving dishes have gold-coloured handles. Three of the side plates are not original, but replacements which only have the gold-coloured band on the rim, not the fine line as well.
