Side closing asymmetrical Chinese style robe of red fabric decorated with embroidery and metal disks; hand stitched with zigzag stitched repairs; centre back seam; banded collar of beige and turquoise fabric trimmed with metal braid and a row of convex metal disks extends onto the front of the coat and closes with a button closing and a pair of ties under right armhole; long wide kimono style sleeves; blue and turquoise fabric trimmed bands with metal braid and a row of convex metal disks edge the sleeves, shaped hem and side slits; side seams are open from hemline to underarm; front vertical turquoise bands located at side seams extend upward over each sleeve and continue as detached stiffened protruding wing-like extensions; fabric loops are located at side seams; metal convex disks are dispersed throughout the embroidery designs that decorate the coat; motifs of chrysanthemums or peonies and various symbols are worked in satin stitch embroidery in colours of gold, green, black, pink, green, red and blue; embroidery threads are couched in red thread; Qilin, Chinese mythological animals, with glass eyes are centered on the front, back and sleeves of the robe; lined in coarse hemp fabric with visible Chinese characters printed in black ink with manufacturer's stamp Guan Gzhou made in China and the name of the Jin Wah Sing Musical Association.
