Overskirt
Reversible blue silk skirt panel with silk and gold embroidery and attached fringe and lion masks; machine and hand stitched with additional zigzag stitched repairs; linen/cotton waistband with ties; outer side of the panel has two layers of fabric joined at the waistband, each layer is edged with a 9 cm silk (?) fringe; decorations for each layer include satin stitch embroidery worked in gold, silver, red, black and white threads; gold embroidery threads are couched with red thread; each layer has embroidered border designs and a five-toe dragon design; a 3 dimensional padded lion mask is centered at the bottom of each layer - the face is worked in gold embroidery threads with padded red and white fabric pieces representing the nose, eyes, tongue and teeth, the bulbous stuffed fabric eyes are painted with black circles and a red/white thread covered wire outlines the mouth; the top layer is lined with linen/cotton; the reverse side of the bottom layer is yellow silk with blue embroidered motifs positioned along the lower edge.
