Letter
From Cecilia Helmcken to a Mrs. Mouat, written on one sheet of blue paper folded in half to make four pages. Letter was written at Fort Nisqually and dated 28th July with no year indicated.
Provenance
Since Mrs. Helmcken refers in the letter to her infant daughter, it would have been between 1855 when her oldest daughter Catherine Amelia was born, and 1863 when her youngest daughter Edith Louisa was born. She also mentions that her mother Lady Amelia Douglas is with her. Other topics in the letter include riding, gardening, conditions at Fort Nisqually, construction of the Mouat's new cottage in Victoria, Mr. and Mrs. Cridge, and Dr. Tolmie.
