Serving Dish
Oval shape, made of blue and white transfer-printed pottery (part a) with lid (part b); 'blue flow' technique used in the firing of the pieces to produce soft flowing effect in the colour of the design; underside of lid and bottom of dish are stamped with the pattern name 'Alhambra' and 'England'; both sides of the lid have an image of a castle with trees, a moat and a bridge in front; edge of the lid is scalloped and decorated with a woven net-like design with embossed blue and white flowers, vines and dots all around the rim; upper part of the serving dish also has a scalloped edge and the same blue and white design but it is not embossed; lower half of serving dish is plain white with embossed pattern of vines and dots; dish has an oval foot with a scalloped edge which has one .8 cm crack visible; a U-shaped pottery handle is at either end of the dish and the lid has one U-shaped pottery handle embellished with elaborate curved shapes attached to the raised centre.
