All tin, one side seam evident, top and bottom soldered to the body along the seams, a squat, round spout is soldered to the left section of the top and has a cork rammed into the opening; a machine printed paper labels glued one to the front side and one to the reverse side; front label made by Macdonald Mfg. Co. Limited Toronto, is a dark green colour with light green trim; the branding for the retail company, Staneland Company is white lettering on a red background, logo is three circles of red with S in the first circle, S on top of the T in the second and, V in the third; the company name and location 836-840 Fort St Victoria, B.C. are on the label; back label has black text on white background, printed across the bottom is the varnish manufacturing company name, 'Stewart - Mowry Company, Chicago, Illinois, USA and directions for use.
