Off-white coloured paper covers held together with string threaded through four holes evenly spaced down the front edge; on the front cover along the left side is glued a narrow vertical piece of white paper (3.5L X 16.5H) bordered in a black line, on the paper is a vertical row of machine printed in black ink, Chinese characters, each booklet has the same title; each page has fourteen lined columns with machine printed Chinese characters in each column. All machine printed black text. The booklets are a guide to locating characters by sound or understanding complex old characters by breaking them down into sub-characters.
