Provenance
The 6th Regiment (Duke of Connaught's Own Rifles) was originally an artillery unit being able to trace its origins to 1883 when it was known as the British Columbia Provisional Regiment of Garrison Artillery Up to 1899 this unit underwent several changes but in 1896 it was reorganized as two artillery battalions. The second battalion, known as the 2nd Battalion, 5th B.C. Regiment was converted and became in 1899 the 6th Regiment, The Duke of Connaught's Own Rifles. In 1920 it was amalgamated with the 104th Westminster Fusiliers and became the 1st B.C. Regiment.
